2026 BEEC Conference Panel Discussion Speakers: Biographies

Dr. Cassandra Sue Ellen Jamison

Dr. Cassie Jamison is an Assistant Professor at Rowan University. Her engineering education research interests focus on understanding 1) how experiential and co-curricular learning contexts shape engineering students' professional preparation and 2) how students transition into professional contexts upon graduation. She began asking questions related to these two areas within BME during her PhD and has since begun to explore these questions in a broader engineering context. While her interests are largely in supporting professional preparation for engineers at the undergraduate level, she has worked on several faculty professional development projects, the most recent being a STEM Education post-doctoral training program funded by the National Science Foundation.

Dr. Karin Jensen

Dr. Karin Jensen is an Assistant Professor in Biomedical Engineering and Engineering Education Research at the University of Michigan. She was previously a Teaching Associate Professor in bioengineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her research interests include student mental health and wellness, engineering student career pathways, and engagement of engineering faculty in engineering education research. She was awarded a CAREER award from the National Science Foundation for her research on undergraduate mental health in engineering programs. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Sanofi Oncology in Cambridge, MA, and earned a bachelor’s degree in biological engineering from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from the University of Virginia. Her doctoral dissertation focused on “Systems pharmacology of cell-signaling networks in human disease.”
